Lodge in Gauteng
Gauteng is the smallest South African province, but the most densely populated and the country’s economic engine. A vibrant entertainment centre, it features the historical amusement park, Gold Reef City, and the shopping mecca of Sandton plus 70 other major shopping malls, hotels, B&B’s and lodges. Gauteng serves as the perfect gateway into Africa as it is close to the Kruger National Park, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Botswana.
The province is dominated by two large cities: the cosmopolitan Johannesburg, with Africa’s famous township of Soweto, and the administrative capital, Pretoria. Besides shopping opportunities and the art of business making, Gauteng offers visitors an interesting variety of historical and natural attractions like the scenic Hartbeespoort Dam surrounded by the Magaliesberg mountains, and the impressive 200 000-year-old Tswaing meteorite crater. A definite must-see is also the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site – the world’s richest hominid site, providing a unique window into our past.
