A death-defying ride over a mountain, almost starving along the road, and remembering our anniversary at the last minute!
Taking a break at Marula Lodge, we were treated to endless parades of elephant, leopards, and other amazing wildlife.
Chobe National Park is all about the river and since Riki’s leg was not fit to start cycling again after the spider bite, Hendrik came up with the idea to paddle up the Chobe River from Kasane to Ngoma. What we experienced along the way was absolutely breathtaking.
We had to be at Customs in Kasane by 11h00. The customs office is situated right next to the Chobe River. Rafael, from Ichobezi River Lodge, met us here and loaded our luggage, including the two bicycles, in a little boat.
After a stay of two weeks in Katima Mulilo in the Caprivi, it was time to move on to Ichobezi River lodge (Ichingo).
It is almost two weeks since we arrived here in Katima Mulilo. Riki’s getting over a spider bite on her leg, while Hendrik goes on daily walks alongside the Zambezi River.
We spent our rest day at the Poppa Rapids Rest Camp close to Divundu and then left early the next morning to cycle through Bwabwata National Park.
As we continued our Cycle Africa for Rhinos expedition we rode from Windhoek to Divundu and encountered many surprises.
We have dreamed of cycling through central and east Africa for a few years. Finally, this dream became reality with the added bonus to contribute towards rhino protection.
