Spots on the Otter Trail famously get booked up far in advance – and with good reason. Only 12 people can walk each daily section of the trail, meaning that for the five days and four nights you’re on the trail, the coastal forests and gorgeous beaches are yours alone. It’s certainly not easy – the famous Bloukrans River crossing and 7000 log stairs are just some of challenges hikers face – but there’s endless views of the coastline, aromatic fynbos combined with a sea breeze, and chatting around the fire every night.

Pick up a copy of our April issue to read our definitive guide to the Otter Trail – including what to do, what not to do, and why bringing a papsak of wine is actually not a great idea.

The winner of this competition will have an opportunity to book the Otter Trail in 2018 for 12 people, including accommodation in huts on each night. Please note that this prize excludes conservation fees, as well as travel to and from the trail.

My Dad has always wanted to do this Trail. Of course us as well. He is 76 now, I hope I can do it with him before his body won’t let him.

One of our many wonders we can be so proud of and share with the world, can just smell the fresh ocean air and enjoy nature at its best
