Destination: Ballito

North of Durban, at the heart of the Dolphin Coast, Ballito is a built-up bustling seaside town with fantastic golden beaches, great surfing and plenty of fishing spots. Willard Beach is the main swimming beach and is popular with surfers and body boarders. A fifteen-minute walk south, Clarke Bay has lifeguards and shark nets for safe swimming and a bit further on is the Ballito Tidal Pool. Dolphins play in the warm ocean off the coast all year round, and there are a number of operators offering boat trips that take visitors out to swim with these sea creatures. If you're after a view of Ballito, take a microlight flight with a qualified pilot from the Ballito Microlight School. For golf enthusiasts, there's Zimbali Golf Course, set in lush subtropical coastal forest a kilometre from the town.
