1. The 5FM Ruins New Year’s Eve Concert

The annual Ruins New Year’s Eve Concert is billed as the biggest New Year’s Eve party in South Africa, and this year is set to be a great one. The line-up this year includes Haezer, Niskerone, The Kiffness and Zebra & Giraffe.

2. New Year’s Festival of Lights in Nieu-Bethesda

A New Years Eve Lantern parade awaits you in this charming Karoo town. Make your own lantern and take a night walk through starry Nieu-Bethesda with locals and children. There will also be a braai, a surprise performance, and a band.

3. Back to the Future party at Randlords

Watch the last sunset of 2013 with spectacular views of Joburg City as you sip on cocktails at the Randlords Rooftop Bar and Lounge. 8. Battle of the Sexes Tribute Show

The challenge is on as male rock stars take on the divas in a Battle of the Sexes rock and roll showdown. Until the 1990s few women claimed the rock and roll stage and only a handful of rock divas such as Cyndi Lauper, Janet Jackson, Shania Twain and Cher took to the stage. Watch these divas take on the likes of rock band Def Leppard and superstars Prince, Billy Ocean and more to fight to win over audiences and critics.

12. Amafullthrottle New Year’s Festival

It’s the ten-year anniversary of this massive street party, and this year they’re planning the most illuminating New Year’s Eve party on Durban’s North Coast. All they’re saying is that it’ll be a “neon spectacle”, and they’re planning an aerial shot for the record books.
