Funny signs of the week

Posted on 24 July 2012

We all happen across them from time to time. Little pockets of humour spread all over the countryside. It doesn’t matter whether it is in a remote little village or on your everyday travels; a funny sign, whether intentional or not, can often make your journey memorable – or at the very least, liven up your day. This week’s funny signs were compiled by Kerry Peers.

The following funny signs were sent in over the past week by our readers:

When Danielle Davis saw this sign she was so taken aback her only response was a resounding “Huh??!!” We wonder what ‘rehabilitation’ this barren landscape could possibly have gone through.

Donna Le Roux  found this board on a building in Calvinia. We’re not exactly sure what they do with the surplus people … she didn’t ask!

Aidan Eksteen found this sign whilst taking a leisurely stroll around Giant’s Castle in search of bearded vultures. It was a funny reminder that not only do these crows pester the majestic raptors of our skies, they also seam to have some issues with our vehicles!

On their way to Cape Point, Mikko and Laura came across this sign in Kommetjie, which some concerned citizen had modified to show that road works in South Africa are more of a mental endeavour than a physical one.

Colleen Williams spotted these little signs on a walk in the Greenpoint Urban Park. The three signs were dispersed between the plants in the impressive Bio diversity garden in the park.

Martin Briggs submitted this photo of this upside down sign outside Shakawe (Western Panhandle of the Okavango Delta) to us in July last year.

He took another picture as he drove past the same sign in July of this year – the sign remained upside down, a full year later. We wondered if this was purposeful – or just the result of extreme laziness.

Pop in again next week for another dose of funny. Alternatively, if you think you have happened upon a sign worthy of this space please email it to [email protected]
