The forests of Finland

More than half of Finland is covered in forests full of spruce and pine trees, birds, butterflies, moose, reindeer and bears. This is my kind of country, green and natural, where wildlife is allowed to survive relatively undisturbed in natural tracts of land, without fences.

During Sweden’s coldest and darkest month, my South African colleague and I jumped on a plane headed for the Arctic Circle. The plan was to bring the South African braai tradition as far north as possible, into a climate of ice and snow.
