Trees for Zambia

Posted on 4 July 2012
Trees for Zambia has started!
The Greenpop Campsite is hosting more than 70 international and Zambian volunteers here in Livingstone and we are planting trees every day with school children, subsistence farmers and fellow volunteers from all around the world.
Zambia has one of the highest deforestation rates in the world and by planting over 5000 indigenous and fruit trees in schools, forest concession areas, subsistence farmer communities and the national heritage site of the Victoria Falls, Trees For Zambia aims to imply a culture of replacing trees as the kick-start of an ongoing project on the ground. We want to highlight and reward the impressive dedication so many Zambians are showing already. Livingstone is changing, and we from Greenpop want to show that it is Zambian teachers, students, farmers and community leaders who are very aware of the problems their country has to fight and who are taking amazing action to make the necessary change happen.
