Mount Olympic National Park in the springtime

Posted on 17 November 2014

We’re driving across the USA in a campervan called Dora. In our last photoblog, we went to Yellowstone, the oldest national park in the world; this time, we’ve gone to Washington State to experience glaciers, rain forests and fresh seafood in Mount Olympic National Park.

Washington is a shocking shade of luminescent green in the springtime. We went a bit seafood mad, and bought fresh clams and scallops, pigging out on dishes we prepared ourselves at camp. Mount Olympic is known as the shy mountain as it’s usually shrouded in mist, which was true when we visited too.

We circumnavigated the park over three days, and it was glorious. We even went to Forks (where Twilight is set) and saw motels with big signs saying “Edward Cullen didn’t sleep here.” Forks is really just a rainy, mostly Native American Indian and economically depressed town, in spite of its pop culture credentials.
