Arrival at Injisuthi – Drakensberg

Posted on 6 February 2009

Yesterday we hiked 14 kilometers in the rain, struggling to keep our camera gear dry, chasing baboons across treacherously slippery rivers, attempting to capture the magnificence of a mountain range shrouded in mist.

Tomorrow we hike a further 10 kilometers to a wet and freezing cave that will be our shelter from the pitch-black, dead cold night, only to rise before the sun and trek back down the mountain the following morning, to drive to the start of our next hike. And that’s the easy part. The difficulty, (one of the many), is expressing, through the show we’re creating, that this is the only way to feel as alive we do when embarking on these challenging, introspective adventures, all in the name of discovery.
