Whether you’re a local or just visting one of these cities, we recommend you hop on a bike and explore. It may be chilly in winter but a little exercise goes a long way to ward off the cold. Follow that with a nice cuppa and you have a winning recipe for some fun.

1. Joburg

Maboneng City Riders cycle around the Joburg CBD every Thursday night, on their own bikes with the option of bike hire at R150. Find it on Facebook.

2. Durban

Every Thursday at 6.30pm, Curiocity Hostel in Durban’s Rivertown precinct hosts a night cycle through the city and along the beachfront.
R200 per pperson. 031-286-0025 Find Curiocity Hostel on Facebook.

Bike and Bean offers bike hire for R50 an hour – sit down for a cup of their single-origin African coffee afterwards. bikebeandurban.com

3. Cape Town
