Learn all the hiking hacks at this women-only workshop in Clarens

Posted on 14 December 2021 By Anita Froneman

Part expedition, part workshop, all adventure!

Have you ever wondered: how the heck do I start hiking in South Africa?

Well, Womxn for Wild is here to help beginners learn first-time backpacking essentials on a  unique long weekend away in Clares and the Golden Gate National Park.

The road to hiking is paved with good intentions, but it can be overwhelming! This luxurious expert-led hiking workshop is designed to get women comfortable and educated on how to tackle an overnight hike in the wild. There will be a strong focus on trail ethics, menu plans, strength training, mountain rescue drills, and then the opportunity to put all that theory into practice on a gorgeous introductory overnight hike.

It’s everything you need to gain confidence for multi-day hiking! Plus, attendees will score a photography workshop with travel photojournalist Melanie van Zyl and get all the answers to tough hiking queries from Michaela Geytenbeek. This certified female mountain guide from Pathfinders SA will be leading every hike.
