Posted on 4 May 2022 By Anita Froneman

De Hoop Collection, a member of Cape Country Routes situated in the pristine De Hoop Nature Reserve will host its annual Wine Whales & Music Weekend from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 June 2022.

The filled-to-the-brim weekend promises De Hoop’s well known delicious food, wine and cheese from local wineries and cheese farms. Here’s a breakdown of the festivities on the cards.

Friday evening includes a gourmet dinner at the Fig Tree Restaurant prepared by De Hoop chefs, paired with Lomond wines, while listening to the sounds of Terry Lloyd-Roberts on vocals, Barbara Kennedy on cello, Keith Merrington on keyboard and Debbie Rudman on percussion.

On Saturday, Richard von Geusau will host the chocolate workshop, followed by wine tasting with Strandveld, Creation, Lomond Wines, Springfontein, The Berrio and Giant Periwinkle Wineries, and a cheese tasting with Stonehouse and Kleinriver Cheese farms. In the late afternoon, high tea will be served in the Cloete Room, followed by a marine presentation titled Do you SEA by guest speaker, Jade Hastings.

Hastings initiated the De Hoop Photo Competition which launched in March to create a deeper awareness of the biodiversity present at the De Hoop Nature Reserve. He is completing his MSc Degree and is investigating the symbionts present on the gills of two groups of intertidal gastropods at De Hoop Nature Reserve – selected for his study because of its pristine habitat and diverse shoreline.
