Off-roaders will be glad to know there’s a new kid on the block. Klein Tafelberg 4×4 near Velddrif on the West Coast offers an adventure-filled 4×4 veld trail snaking along sandy slopes and weathered sandstone formations for up to 20km.
The routes vary from Grade 3 to Grade 5, all with sand dunes, fynbos and magnificent viewpoints. All routes are guided.
You can also go hiking and mountain climbing, or try your luck in spotting Verreaux’s eagles or angulate tortoises.
Accommodation includes a campsite and chalets, but day visitors are also welcome. The centre offers a swimming pool, lapa and braai area.

Camping: From R330 (1 Vehicle, 4 people) per night. Kids under 6 stay free.
Chalets: From R980 (4 adults) per night. Kids under 6 stay free.
Day visitors: R80 per adult (18+); R40 per child (6-17 years old).
