Cycle from New York to Canada on this epic 1207km long trail Posted by Imogen Searra on 21 January 2021 A cycling route spanning 1207km has opened between New York and Canada. While Americans are unable to cross the border currently, they are able to get to it via bike or on foot. The new Empire State Trail spans a total of 750 miles from New York City through the Hudson Valley, up to the Canadian border. 75% of the route is comprised of scenic off-road trails perfect for walkers, runners, hikers, cyclists and snowshoers. https://t.co/M1LdwY8P9M Cool! pic.twitter.com/PifTdUIATu — Martin Lieberman (@martinlieberman) January 19, 2021 Development of the Empire State Trail began in 2017 and it is now finished. It has connected two existing trails together, along with creating 563km of new path, which connect near Albany. Walk, run, or bike from New York City to Buffalo or Canada on what @NYGovCuomo is calling America’s longest multi-use state trail. The Empire State Trail is perfect for a short stroll close to home, a multi-day biking adventure, or a cross-state trek! https://t.co/fW52z59Trz pic.twitter.com/rnK5kZAOYe — Trail Conference (@nynjtc) January 16, 2021 The trail consists of three sections. The Hudson Valley Greenway links New York City to Albany. The Erie Canalway Trail, situated between Buffalo and Albany. The third is the Champlain Valley Trail, between the Capital District and the Canadian border of south Montreal. Nine million people are predicted to visit the trail annually, according to Lonely Planet. 🥾 ICYMI: New York’s 750-mile Empire State Trail opened to the public at the beginning of January. As a longtime supporter of this project, I’m thrilled that multi-use trails (or greenways) continue to grow in #NYS as well as our outdoor tourism market. pic.twitter.com/OW5EnH4kRX — Assemblymember Patricia Fahy (@PatriciaFahy109) January 14, 2021 Image: Twitter Related Posts Visit the Cradle of Human Culture 4 March 2021 A journey through the Cradle of Human Culture traces the origins and development of human... read more Canadian couple lives in Maldives resort for a year 24 February 2021 Neal van Beers and his partner, Charmaine Sanchez are Canadian passport holders, but have decided... read more Egypt to build Africa’s largest tourist wheel 24 February 2021 The giant observation wheel will take tourists for a ride 120 metres high over the... read more PREV ARTICLE NEXT ARTICLE
