Tested: Glad ice cube bags

Posted on 6 December 2013

The only thing that could taint a good summer holiday is a lack of ice. You may think I’m over exaggerating, but just ask the luke warm gin and tonic.

Glad has re-introduced the summer traveller’s best friend – ice cube bags. You get eight in a pack and they are small enough to pack into any camping box. To make your ice, fill up the bag with water (or any other delectable treat – think juice, cocktails, lemon tinted cubes) and then turn it upside down (yes!) to activate the self-sealing mechanism. It works and is incredible.

Then pop the Glad ice cube bag into the freezer and wait.

When the cubes have frozen, you can either separate singular cubes for your drink or stretch the bag to release the cubes and voila – a bag of ice.

I love them.

Keep your coolies and nifty ice bags in one these mini coolers from Game. They hold about eight cans and are perfect for a trip to the beach or keeping between the seat on a road trip.

Ice bags cost R13,99 and cooler costs R80  from selected Game stores.
