Photoblog – do you dare?

Posted on 14 October 2010

Are you longing to get out there? Longing to see something beautiful to capture with your camera? Unfortunately, you don’t always have days off or perhaps have the money to go somewhere.

You don’t need to go that far. Look around you and see the beauty right where you are, the trees are in full flower this time of year and in return attracting many bird species.

Have you taken the time to look around you? The summer migrants are flocking into the country again. Have you seen or perhaps heard some of them already?

The pictures of the sunbirds I took on a farm in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. I took the time to observe where they would come to feed and it took time for them to become accustomed to my presence.

You don’t even need a tripod for this although it would make it so much easier. This you can do in your back garden or a city park. Take your time, observe and enjoy.

Even in the cities you will find something special. I took a picture of a Tawny-flanked Prinia in Pretoria while I was waiting for the Crimson-breasted Shrike to make its re-appearance into the garden again.

Something small can make me happy and excited! Have you ever dared to let it get you excited?

One doesn’t need to be in a rugged, faraway place to enjoy the beauty of nature. Just open your eyes.

Do you dare to take some of your valuable time to slow down?

Do you dare to let nature surprise you with the beauty around you?

I’m sure it will be worth it.
