Shake up your life and go watch this year’s Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour.

What is it?

Screening at Ster Kinekor cinemas around the country, the festival presents 11 short films documenting both athletes and ordinary people taking on the natural world. Amoung the many exceptional adventures, look out for skiing with parachutes down hectic slopes previously deemed unrideable, a pair of totally inexperienced Brits rowing over 5600km from Australia to Mauritius, a South African’s beautiful thoughts on trail running, and a dog that really digs the snow.

Where?

Cavendish Square and Tyger Valley Shopping Centre in Cape Town, Sandton City in Joburg, Gateway Theatre of Shopping in KZN, Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria and Baywest Mall in PE. The films are screening once a day at 8pm from 23 October until 2 November and last year tickets sold out so be sure to book as soon as possible.

Tickets

From R66 a person. Book online at www.sterkinekor.com or TicketLine on 0861668437.

Here are five of my favourite films from last year’s festival to give you a taste of the couch adventures that await. After these films you’ll be lusting for some travel. Luckily, Getaway can help…
