The Cape Camino trail, stretching from Riebeck Kasteel, is a two-day hike that will serve as a personal pilgrimage in aid of children living on the streets. Streetsmart SA has partnered with the Cape Camino hike for the weekend of 16-18 July.

StreetSmart SA is an organisation helping street children rebuild their lives through public donations and In the spirit of goodwill, Cape Camino has teamed up with them, where donations are included in the cost of the hike.

Zaid Adams, chairman of StreetSmart SA,  commented that:  “We are delighted to partner with Cape Camino on this personal pilgrimage in aid of helping our most vulnerable children living on the streets,”

Starting on Friday 16 July, hikers will be welcomed for a sleepover at Riebeck Kasteel, before embarking on the trail to Gouda through farmlands and wheatfields on the next day. Breakfast will be provided by a local farmer. Upon your arrival in Gouda, local farmers, the Smuts family, will provide a warm welcome and a home-cooked meal.

On Sunday, the hike will consist of a 20km stretch to Tulbagh. Hikers who feel as though they cannot manage the 20km may opt for a tractor ride from the 10km mark. The Streetsmart SA fundraiser launch will culminate at Tulbagh’s Paddagang restaurant.

The price for the 2-day hike is R3 850 per person sharing, including chaperones, the contribution to StreetSmart SA, two nights accommodation, breakfasts, meals, luggage transport, a Camino passport and a T-shirt.
