FlySafair has introduced a new AI-powered chatbot named Lindi, giving passengers a convenient way to book flights, change seats, and access travel information — all via WhatsApp.

Currently in its pilot phase, Lindi removes the need to use the FlySafair app or website for certain booking functions. Instead, frequent flyers can complete essential travel tasks through simple WhatsApp messages.
The airline confirmed on Monday that additional features will be rolled out soon, according to Tech Central reports.
“AI and Lindi provide an opportunity to offer what is effectively a free private travel assistant to each customer at scale. We are excited about building on her potential to enhance our customer services,” said Kirby Gordon, FlySafair’s Chief Marketing Officer.
“The interactions are not only very natural, but she helps people get things done.”

Developed by South African tech company Stubber, Lindi marks a significant leap in AI-driven travel services.
“Lindi is a testament to the potential of AI in delivering exceptional customer service and next-level business process automation,” said Guy Duncan, Managing Director of Stubber.
While many airlines have deployed AI assistants for general travel advice, Lindi goes a step further. “There are several AI assistants that have been created by airlines to help with general information about flying and destinations, but Lindi is the first that can assist customers with their bookings,” added Gordon.
Currently, Lindi is limited to making bookings for one passenger at a time and does not yet support bookings for business class, infants, groups, or travel agents. FlySafair emphasised that the tool is still in beta testing and will continue to evolve.
