FlySafair makes a move to support local artists with the introduction of proudly South African cabin artworks.

Mzansi’s regional low-cost carrier, Flysafair, has recently made a move to support local artists and liven up their cabins with artworks celebrating South Africa as a rainbow nation.

The campaign first launched in 2022 to support local artists and add a touch of joy to passengers’ journeys after a challenging pandemic.

Running for a second time this year, the campaign has chosen six local artists’ works, which celebrate their favourite destinations in South Africa.

The chosen artworks were then printed onto aircraft-approved materials, which have been placed in select FlySafair aircraft.

As per Tourism Update, Kirby Gordon, COO at FlySafair, says:

“We are thrilled to be bringing back this campaign. Art is a powerful thing, it has the potential to communicate a message or feeling regardless of the language you speak or the culture you come from,”

“When we first launched this project, flying was extremely stressful for many of our customers due to the forced proximity it required. Thankfully, that is now behind us, but what better way to share our love of flying and South Africa than through art.”

“As a collective, they are a fantastic reflection of just how wide a range of special and unique experiences the country has to offer, bringing more life and fun to the FlySafair flying experience,” the airline said in a press release.

“We cannot wait to show off this next round of designs. This project is an important reminder of all we have to celebrate in this country and is a great way to help us share our love of flying with all our customers,” concludes Gordon.

The carrier’s golden reputation continues after being lauded in national headlines for making an emergency landing to save a life earlier in February.

The low-cost carrier was also named as the world’s most on-time budget carrier in a recent survey.
