Family-friendly food pairings are all the rage lately.

In Cape Town, we are spoiled for choice when it comes to wine pairings. These smart, accommodating establishments offer child-friendly pairings that help parents enjoy a little pairing without the guilt of excluding their kids from the experience.

DEAL: A Belgian chocolate pairing for a family of four

Root44 Wine Emporium

Root 44 offers a flight tasting that consists of five red or white wines or four MCC tastings for R150. The pairing component consists of MCC and meringue for R190, white wine and shortbread for R180 and red wine and charcuterie for R200.

Root44 also offers a kid’s pairing of strawberry-flavoured milk and Smarties, cream soda-flavoured milk and Kit Kat and bubblegum-flavoured milk and jelly beans. Each kiddie’s tasting costs R80.

Neetlingshof

Open seven days a week, Neetlingshof offers an array of wine-tasting options, as well as a flash food and slow wine pairing that offers superb wine paired with bite-sized portions of fast food with a twist.

The children’s pairing ​​includes three bite-sized dishes paired with three types of drinks and costs R68 per child/person.
