The South African reports that the City of Cape Town has published its latest waiting times for learner’s, standard light motor vehicle, heavy motor vehicle and motorcycle licence tests. The average waiting time for a light motor vehicle test across the listed centres is 31 days, the publication says.
Light motor vehicle test waits
The shortest listed waits for a light motor vehicle licence are at Lingelethu West and Joe Gqabi, each showing a waiting time of one day. The longest wait is at New Ottery at 94 days. Other notable waits include Parow at 72 days and Goodwood at 63 days.

City response
The City told The South African that licence test backlogs can be unavoidable.
“Sometimes we cannot prevent a backlog, often due to people not arriving to take their tests,” the City said in a statement.
