Indonesia is introducing a new “second home” visa which would entitle foreigners to stay for five or ten years but comes with a hefty price tag.
Indonesia is looking to attract wealthy global citizens for a long-term stay by attracting them to its most popular destination: Bali.
This visa is open to applicants with at least two billion Indonesian rupiahs (around R2.3 million) in their bank account as proof of funds.
‘This immigration policy is one of the non-fiscal incentives that can be a stimulus for certain foreigners to stay and contribute positively to the Indonesian economy,’ said Acting Director General of Immigration Widodo Ekatjahjana at the launch of a second-home visa.
The visa will come into force on 25 December and foreigners can conveniently apply for a second-home visa through a website-based application here.
