Boulders Beach takes top spot in global beach rankings

Tucked away on the scenic Cape Peninsula near Simon’s Town, Boulders Beach has just been crowned the world’s most one-of-a-kind beach in Tripadvisor’s Traveller’s Choice Awards, reports TimeOut.

This is a rare honour achieved by only about 1 % of Tripadvisor’s listings.

What makes this stretch of sand genuinely unique isn’t just its sheltered coves and warm False Bay waters,  it’s the wildly charismatic colony of African penguins that call it home. These little tuxedoed residents stroll freely between massive granite boulders and are often the first sighting visitors share when they step off the plane in Cape Town.

While the main boardwalk and viewing areas (managed to support conservation of this critically endangered species) offer up close encounters and spectacular photo ops, there’s more to explore beyond the entrance fee. Walking south along the coast from Seaforth Beach brings you past hidden coves and all-time snorkelling spots like Windmill Beach, where you can enjoy the coastline without the crowds.

Whether you’re planning a family day of swimming and picnicking, seeking unforgettable wildlife moments, or simply want a beach that’s truly unlike any other, Boulders Beach delivers a one-of-a-kind Cape Town experience.
