Fancourt: The Garden Route’s hole-in-one experience

A weekend away at Fancourt in George is an experience unlike any other. Found just a 5-minute-drive away from the airport, a trip to the Garden Route has never been more accessible.

Fancourt also offers a string of restaurants that caters to all dietary requirements. The delectable La Cantina, the Italian eatery on the estate, is the perfect place to carboload the night before a round. This is also where breakfast is served each morning. If you prefer a higher-end dining experience, then a visit to Henry White’s at the Manor House is essential. The creative cuisine on this menu pays tribute to endemic South African ingredients that tantalize the tastebuds of diners. Think kumquats, spekboom and lilly pilly.

Monet’s, the French bistro-style eatery, overlooks the Outeniqua golf course and the beautiful Outeniqua Mountains. This picturesque spot is situated near the spa, making it extremely easy to grab a bite after an afternoon of relaxation.

The ingredients for the restaurants are sourced within a 10km radius of Fancourt. The estate is committed to uplifting the local community and to supporting small business owners in the area in a sustainable way.

If your travel bug starts to bite and you want to explore the Garden Route more thoroughly, then meander down to the Old George/ Knysna road to Wilderness. Make sure to stop at the Deacon Bistro & Pause Coffee in George for your morning caffeine fix before heading off.

The Redberry Farm, a 5-minute drive from the gates of Fancourt is a must-do when visiting George. The farm is jam-packed with children’s activities, and a restaurant that celebrates the scrumptious strawberry. There is nothing like picking your own strawberries and gobbling them up on the way home.
