‘We continue to support the development of Victoria Falls as a regional tourism hub by providing the much-needed seamless connections between the region’s top destinations. The second daily service between Victoria Falls and  Johannesburg is in addition to our recently introduced service between Victoria Falls and  Mbombela (Nelspruit) Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport and Maun in Botswana effective from the 30th of June 2022,’ says Fastjet Zimbabwe spokesperson, Nunurai Ndawana.

Growing South Africa’s economy

The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) Tourism Leadership Conference will bring together key industry professionals to discuss and plan a way forward for the industry. The theme this year is Tourism: The Engine of Growth for South Africa. The conference takes place from 14-16 September 2022 in the North West Province at Sun City Resort.

‘This inaugural conference is critical in setting the new agenda for tourism in South Africa and the region. It also presents an opportunity for the private sector to share a platform with our public sector colleagues, to share ideas about how we can impact the economy of South Africa and increase youth employment through travel and tourism. The ultimate goal is to increase international arrivals, drive domestic travel, and drive the much-needed recovery in the overall South African economy,’ says TBCSA CEO, Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa.

Enca reports some of the topics up for discussion:

· Build a stronger partnership with the public sector and private sector

· South Africa should be marketed and promoted as a preferred tourist destination

· The youth in the rural and urban areas should be given sustainable employment

· The tourism sector should get focus in terms of transformation and growth

· Regional integration and cooperation (SADC and Africa)

· When there is a block in South Africa’s tourism growth government needs to commitment in dealing with policy obstacles
