This annual event is a standout feature on the cultural calendar, offering both residents and visitors an immersive experience.
On 24 September 2025 (Heritage Day), a selection of Iziko Museums in Cape Town will offer free admission, making it possible for everyone to explore the city’s most iconic cultural institutions.
Heritage Day is a moment for South Africans to reflect on both the struggles and victories shared in their collective history. With this free-entry initiative, Iziko aims to make that history more accessible to all. Whether your passion lies in art, geology, or stories of people, the scheduled museums provide something of interest for everyone.
