Bundox Safari Co has reopened Khanya Conservation Camp, a unique initiative in the Greater Kruger region that blends safari adventure with hands-on wildlife protection.

Joining Bundox’s portfolio — which includes Amava River Lodge on the Olifants River and Explorer Camp near Hoedspruit — Khanya is designed for travellers who want to go beyond game drives and actively contribute to conservation efforts.

Guests can join field rangers, researchers and local conservationists on their daily missions, from tracking elephant movements and checking camera traps for nocturnal predators to assisting with data collection and habitat monitoring.

“Khanya Conservation Camp was designed for travellers who want their safari to matter,” says the Bundox Safari team. “It’s about connecting with the land, the people protecting it, and the wildlife that defines it,” as reported by Tourism Update.

Situated in a private wilderness area bordering Kruger National Park, the camp pairs rustic simplicity with Bundox’s signature comfort. Each stay directly supports anti-poaching patrols, environmental education, and community employment initiatives in nearby villages.

As Bundox describes it, “Khanya gives visitors the chance to see where conservation happens — not from behind the lens, but beside the people doing the work.”
