According to Tourism Update, the resort has officially introduced an all-inclusive model, turning the classic Drakensberg getaway into something closer to a full holiday package. For guests, that means fewer logistics and more time spent enjoying the mountains.
Operated by Dream Hotels and Resorts, the property is leaning into a growing travel trend where accommodation, meals, and activities are wrapped into one seamless stay.
A mountain stay where almost everything is included
Under the new setup, visitors booking a stay at Little Switzerland will now find much more than just a room waiting for them.
The all-inclusive experience includes breakfast, lunch, high tea, and dinner each day, along with selected beverages. Guests also gain access to many of the resort’s recreational facilities and activities throughout their stay.
It turns a typical mountain lodge visit into something closer to a resort-style holiday. Families can arrive, settle in, and spend their days exploring without constantly planning the next meal or activity.
Outdoor adventure at the heart of the experience
The Drakensberg has always been about the outdoors, and Little Switzerland continues to lean into that identity.
Guests can enjoy walking trails that weave through the surrounding landscape, offering sweeping views of the escarpment and valleys below. There is also a driving range for golfers wanting to practise their swing with a mountain backdrop.
For those chasing something more energetic, the resort includes access to a zipline and obstacle course, while mountain bikes are available to hire for exploring the terrain on two wheels.
Adventure activities also include go-karting, fly fishing, and horse riding, giving visitors a mix of adrenaline and slower-paced countryside experiences.
Evenings designed for slowing down

While the new offering covers a wide range of experiences, not everything is included in the package.
Spa treatments, premium drinks, and certain specialised activities remain optional extras, available at an additional cost.
Still, the bulk of the holiday experience is now bundled into one rate, a move that reflects changing travel preferences.
Nick Dickson, CEO and Group Custodian of Dream Hotels and Resorts, says the shift is part of a broader strategy to evolve the company’s properties in line with modern guest expectations and changing market trends.
Why the all-inclusive model is gaining ground
Across the travel world, all-inclusive resorts are making a comeback. For many travellers, the appeal lies in simplicity. One booking covers most of the essentials, allowing guests to focus on the experience rather than the planning.
In destinations like the Drakensberg, where nature and relaxation are the main attractions, that approach can make a lot of sense.
Little Switzerland’s move suggests the model may become more common across South Africa’s mountain resorts. For visitors dreaming of a stress-free escape surrounded by towering peaks and quiet valleys, it might just be the perfect fit.
