The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) is saying goodbye to its beloved Rescue 17 vessel. Rescue 17 has served the NSRI Hermanus station and Overberg region for many years, serving in countless rescue missions.

Rescue 17 is a Brede Class 10m vessel, built in the UK in 1983, originally for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, where it was purchased by the NSRI for sea rescue duties.

She has been refitted twice and has been taken out of the water and cleaned. She’s fully operational. This vessel is capable of cruising at 18 knots and she has four crew stations in the main cabin and space for eight passengers in the fore cabin.
