Sustainable Seas Trust invites public to submit ideas on reducing waste

Posted on 3 January 2022 By Taylah Strauss

Africa is home to some of the richest biodiversity and marine-rich coastlines in the world, making its conservation an imperative. But the continent’s oceans face numerous threats, such as pollution, habitat destruction and overfishing, all of which impact livelihoods too.

Cape of Good Hope.

It is on this premise that the Sustainable Seas Trust (SST) was formed. SST is a non-profit organisation that connects communities throughout the African continent via research, education and awareness about ocean conservation and plastic pollution. According to their website, they build networks for sharing information and support focused on waste management.

Now, SST is inviting individuals passionate about African marine life and oceans to send their ideas on how to better manage and reuse waste so that it doesn’t end up in the oceans.

No matter how big or small, if you have any ideas, you can submit an abstract here.
