South Africa’s oldest letterbox

When was the last time you posted a letter? At St Andrew’s College in Makhanda, one finds South Africa’s oldest official letterbox. It has the old-school flutish design that is one of the earliest of 19 types supplied by the British Post Office.

Posting a letter here will ignite the excitement and old-school nostalgia that comes with sending and receiving physical letters.

Maze fun at Hogsback

Hogsback Labyrinth at The Edge is an attraction that is reputed to be the largest of its kind. People walk around the labyrinth for a number of reasons. For some, it provides inspiration. For others, it’s a form of meditation, or simply an opportunity to have absolute fun.

The walk to the centre and out is roughly 1,4 kilometers. Wear comfortable shoes and be ready to have fun!

Take some time out to appreciate art at Gqeberha’s Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Museum.

Housed in two buildings are different forms of art, including British, Oriental and South African art. You will also find Eastern Cape art in the limelight.

Views from the Monument

For spectacular views, make sure you stop at the 1820 Settlers National Monument in Makhanda. The place is rich in history and was built in memory of the first English Settlers. At the Monument, you will be spoilt with much serenity and lovely views of Makhanda.
