Start your visit bright and early when the Aquarium opens at 09h00 (public holidays) or 09h30 (regular hours). Begin your adventure at the Penguin Exhibit, where the African penguins kick off their morning routine. They’re most active at this time of day; diving, preening, and greeting visitors with noisy brays. It’s a heartwarming start that’ll make your holiday feel extra special.

Next, head to the Kelp Forest Exhibit to catch a glimpse of the Northern rockhopper penguins having their morning swim. Every day, these rambunctious swimmers leave their beach in the Penguin Exhibit to zoom through the kelp and glide past the gully sharks.

Just before 11h00, get your camera ready for one of the cutest moments of your day: The famous waddle! Aquarium staff will guide you to line the pathway to the Northern rockhopper beach as the penguins waddle home from their swim. The slap of their little feet on the wooden walkway is enough to make anyone smile!

Stick around, because the African penguins’ lunchtime feeding happens at 11h30. Watch them enjoy a nutritious feast of pilchards while one of the knowledgeable Aquarium team members shares fascinating facts about these critically endangered seabirds and what’s being done to protect them. Missed it? No worries – they have another meal at 14h30!

By now, it’s time for an ocean-sized lunchtime! On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 12h00, you can see rays and fish being hand-fed by scuba divers in the I&J Ocean Exhibit. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, the Kelp Forest Exhibit hosts a feeding frenzy with catsharks, steenbras, and stumpnose. Saturdays bring the most thrilling spectacle of all: Ragged-tooth shark feeding time in the Save Our Seas Foundation Shark Exhibit. Each session is led by an enthusiastic Aquarium staff member.

If you’re exploring with little ones, the Children’s Play Centre will add even more sparkle to your day. Don’t miss the fabulously fishy puppet shows at 10h30, 13h30, and 15h30 – they’re fun, educational, and full of ocean cheer.

Whether you’re visiting Cape Town for the holidays or looking for a local adventure with a splash of festive magic, a day at the Two Oceans Aquarium promises unforgettable memories. From waddling penguins to majestic sharks, every exhibit is a celebration of the ocean’s wonders. So come curious, leave inspired, and let the spirit of the sea make your holiday season shine.
