Gear of the year: Logitech Mini Boombox

Posted on 28 November 2012

The tinny timbre of a cellphone speaker belies its ability to deliver DJ-quality tunes on the move. That’s where I found the Logitech mini boombox filled the gap. Not only does the little package sound great for its pocket-friendly size, but it’s simple to set up: switch on the speaker, pair it with a phone’s A2DP Bluetooth connection and press play.

Battery life is good and the unit is rechargeable via USB cable. The backlit volume, play pause, skip and volume controls are touch sensitive (no buttons to snag) and though it took one or two tries to get used to, it’s simple enough to use. It’s not just a portable speaker system though, there’s a built-in mic that turns it into a speakerphone, so you can make and take calls between tracks.
