Posted on 5 January 2022 By Taylah Strauss

Youngsters have tonnes of energy, and it can be difficult to keep them entertained. But, if you’re in Joburg, there’s no shortage of fun activities for kids to do. Here’s a list of seven winners.

1. Trampoline park

Jumping on a trampoline has numerous benefits for children and adults alike; it improves balance and coordination, as well as core strength. Aside from the benefits, it’s simply a fun activity to get your adrenaline going.

Whilst outdoor trampolines are sometimes considered unsafe and difficult to maintain, indoor trampolines take that responsibility out of your hands. Indoor trampolines are safe, with foam-padded walls and dividers between sections, so injury is less likely to occur if your child falls. Falling is also less likely to occur, as staff members are assigned to ensure no one takes unnecessary risks.

Seeing as there is ample space, it is a nice activity for large groups too.

The BOUNCE trampoline park in Sandton offers a limited summer pass, and ensures an enjoyable and safe experience.

In addition, Ski Deck also has a trampoline and a jungle gym, as well as a zip line. All of these are in an enclosed area, so parents can monitor their kids at all times.

Skiing is not only fun, but it also improves concentration, so this is the ideal activity for your kids before heading back to school.

The Color Cafe in Hyde Park has rows of shelves lined with a wide selection of ceramics for your child to pick. Whether a tiny elephant or a giant mug, you name it, they have it.

This activity is best spent in groups. Children are given a selection of paints, a palette, brushes and a cup of water. After they are done with their selected item, it goes to the kiln to be glazed and can be picked up after three weeks. After that, children can enjoy a snack off their menu.

Painting has a wide variety of benefits; it fosters creativity and boosts problem-solving and motor skills.

But the best part of all this is that your kids can make a mess and you won’t have to clean it up!
