News24 said that ‘heat waves this summer, which saw temperatures climb to 53˚C in California’s Death Valley and over 52˚C in China’s northwest, have coincided with wildfires from Greece to the Swiss Alps and deadly flooding in India and South Korea.

Due to the excessive heat waves, America has seen blazing heat, increased wildfires, tropical storms, and flood warnings. Pheonix, Arizona, recorded its 19th consecutive day where the daily high was more than 43˚C, breaking its previous record of 18 days.

In Europe, tourists have been splashing around in the fountains around Rome and standing beneath the Colosseum’s giant fans.

EU emergency centres have issued red alerts for high temperatures throughout Europe.
