No more health questionnaires for domestic air travel

Posted on 25 November 2020

Plans to further relax travel restrictions have been announced and a number of changes to the current protocols have changed.

Domestic Port Health Screening countrywide has stopped as of midnight, November 24.

For domestic travel, the mandatory Health Questionnaire is no longer required from November 25 onwards, according to Mango Airlines.

Further changes for travel in SA under Level 1 announced

Mango, Kulula, FlySafair, Lift and Airlink have reopened bookings ahead of the festive season.

Other changes include:

  • ACSA will continue with temperature screening checks accordingly for airport entry, also only allowing entry to those with the applicable paperwork for flight.
  • Travel permits will no longer be required for all travel.
  • Wearing a mask in airports and for travel is mandatory
  • Social distancing will still be required within airport terminals
  • Guests are encouraged to maintain general hand hygiene and sanitize frequently

Travellers are still advised to arrive early to airports to allow for leeway with regulatory and safety protocols that need to be followed. Mango suggests guests arrive two-and-a-half hours prior to flying to account for any ‘unforeseen delays’.

‘These are extraordinary times requiring never-before-implemented extraordinary measures. We call on all South Africans to adhere to lockdown regulations, wear masks at all times, maintain good hygiene and social distancing, and more than ever before, continue to use all our digital platforms (web, mobi-app, email, etc.) including our call centre,’ said the airline.
