Penguins stroll Simon’s Town streets

Posted on 20 April 2020

With the lockdown in full effect across the country, many animals have been taking advantage of the peace and quiet to roam free. Simon’s Town’s most popular residents, the Boulders Beach penguins, joined the trend when they waddled through the empty streets.

In a video captured by The Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB), the penguins can be seen using their happy feet to explore the quiet streets of Simon’s Town. SANCCOB’s Penguin Rangers were on hand to make sure the beautiful birds had a safe trip to town.

“#Lockdown has its perks for #Africanpenguins in Simon’s Town. This is one of the reasons why our Penguin Rangers have their hands full but waddling down the street is enjoyable & safer for the birds these days, clearly!” writes SANCCOB.
