A world-class seaside resort is nearing completion on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.

Club Med South Africa Beach & Safari/Facebook

The Club Med South Africa Beach and Safari Resort will combine the best of both worlds. Located just 20 minutes from King Shaka International Airport and close to Ballito, the resort will give guests the chance to experience both ocean and bush in a single journey. Visitors can extend their stay with a two or three-night escape at Mpilo Safari Lodge, a private reserve that stretches across 18,000 hectares of pristine Zululand wilderness.

According to Daily Investor, Construction is progressing quickly, with the beachside property set to open its doors on 4 July 2026. The resort will feature six padel courts, three tennis courts, a sports field, a trapeze arena, an archery range, and a dam for stand-up paddling and canoeing. Guests can also enjoy a luxurious spa, surf school, multiple restaurants and bars, and a modern conference facility for up to 500 people.

The project is being developed by Collins Residential in partnership with African Bank, the Industrial Development Corporation, the Tinley Leisure Women’s Investment Group, and Absa. It represents one of the largest tourism investments in South Africa since the creation of Sun City and is expected to attract both local and international visitors to the North Coast.

Chris Du Toit from Collins Residential says the development will be a catalyst for change in the region. “There’s a lot of excitement and anticipation. This project has the potential to redefine the North Coast as a global destination,” he said.

Bookings have already opened, with a five-night stay for two starting from around R46,000 in July 2026. Prices increase to approximately R55,000 in November, with deluxe and exclusive suites available for those seeking a higher level of comfort. The safari lodge stay is offered as an optional add-on.

This new resort marks a milestone for South African tourism. With beachside relaxation, luxury accommodation and an unforgettable safari experience in one seamless journey, it is poised to become a must-visit destination for travellers from around the world.
