Johannesburg Botanical Gardens

Founded in 1969, the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens consist of large and grassy open spaces scattered with trees. Amidst the natural beauty, you can enjoy a lovely picnic. Plus, there are also exotic plants and the 7,5 hectare Emmerentia Dam which is home to many aquatic birds.

Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden

The expansive Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden provides the opportunity to enjoy a lovely picnic as you relax in its lushness and serenity. It boasts over 600 plant species, 220 bird species, as well as reptiles and some small mammals. Who knows? Perhaps you might spot some honey badgers, hedgehogs or even some Verreaux’s eagles nesting on the cliffs near the waterfall.

Delta Park

Delta Park has three beautiful tree-lined dams, as well as extensive grasslands and woodlands. Thus, it is ideal for those who seek to unwind in nature while enjoying their favourite eats and treats.

The park’s south-east corner is said to be one of its most tranquil areas. It has dedicated picnic spots. When relaxing on the spacious lawns, you’re also likely to spot various species of beautiful birds.
