Close up sighting of a young caracal in Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden

Posted on 5 January 2022 By Taylah Strauss

Caracals are small African wild cats. These creatures are primarily nocturnal, though they can be spotted during the day if you’re in the right place at the right time.

Have a look at this caracal spotted in the garden on Tuesday, January 5 shared by the Urban Caracal Project.

In September 2021, two small kittens were spotted in the Garden, so this youngster is likely to be one of them.
