Foreigners caught in fire hydrant tunnel at OR Tambo International Posted by Anita Froneman on 22 June 2022 Police arrested eight men who were caught crawling through a fire hydrant tunnel at OR Tambo International Airport last week. Minister of Home Affairs, Aaron Motsoaledi, said that four of the men are Bangladeshi nationals and four are Pakistani, according to IOL. The men arrived from a Qatar Airways flight from Doha and were meant to transit through South Africa en route to other countries, but instead try to get into South Africa illegally. South Africa does not offer transit visas, but the Department of Home Affairs said it plans on implementing them to prevent illegal immigrants from entering the country.
