A stretch of coastline just north of Cape Town is getting a second chance and the public is invited to help.

On Friday, 24 April, Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages (CCPB), in collaboration with Guardians of the Deep, SANParks and several local community organisations, will host a beach clean-up at Milnerton Beach from 10:00 to 12:00. The initiative comes in response to a recent clean-up at the site, where significant volumes of waste were uncovered along the shoreline.
With winter swells on the horizon, the timing is critical. Rising seas and rougher conditions increase the likelihood of debris being pulled back into the ocean — where it poses a serious threat to marine ecosystems.

By mobilising volunteers and partners, including SANCCOB and Petco, the clean-up aims to tackle pollution at its source while highlighting the broader environmental impact of litter along South Africa’s coastlines.
For organisers, the message is simple: small actions add up. And collective effort can go a long way in protecting fragile marine environments.
Members of the public are encouraged to join in and play an active role in preserving the coastline.
