Travellers flying between Gauteng and Zimbabwe will soon have a more convenient option, with Airlink set to launch the first-ever scheduled airline service between Lanseria International Airport and Harare.

According to the African Travel & Tourism Association (ATTA), the new route will take off on 15 November 2026, making Airlink the first airline to operate scheduled flights between the two airports.
The service will operate three times a week using an Embraer E190 aircraft, configured with 6 Business Class and 92 Economy Class seats.
Flight schedule
Flights from Lanseria International Airport will depart on:
- Mondays
- Thursdays
- Saturdays
Return flights from Harare will operate on:
- Wednesdays
- Fridays
- Sundays
Bookings for the new route are already open.
A more convenient option for western Gauteng travellers
Until now, Airlink’s Johannesburg–Harare services have operated exclusively from OR Tambo International Airport. The addition of Lanseria gives travellers living on the western side of Gauteng and in the North West Province an airport that’s often easier to reach, with less traffic and shorter terminal queues.
According to Airlink CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht, the Johannesburg–Harare route is one of Southern Africa’s busiest air corridors. It averaged around 60,000 seats per month in 2025, with a significant portion of travellers coming from Lanseria’s catchment area.
The airline believes the new service will better meet this existing demand while offering passengers greater flexibility.
What passengers can expect
The route will be operated using an Embraer E190, known for its comfortable cabin layout. Airlink says passengers can look forward to:
- Complimentary meals and refreshments
- No middle seats
- Generous legroom in both Business and Economy Class
The airline hopes the new service will provide a seamless travel experience for both business and leisure travellers heading to Zimbabwe’s capital.
With Lanseria continuing to expand its network of destinations, the addition of Harare marks another milestone for the airport and offers travellers yet another gateway into Southern Africa.
