Dometic has launched the Slimline 3 Roof Rack, the first product in its new Dometic Front Runner Series, designed for motorists heading off-road and into more demanding environments.

The new roof rack combines Swedish engineering with design and testing in South Africa, with a focus on strength, modularity and easier integration with adventure gear. According to Dometic, the Slimline 3 is designed to be stronger and lighter than its predecessor while offering a lower profile and more flexible setup.
A lower-profile design
One of the most noticeable changes is the Slimline 3’s profile. It sits 20% lower than the Slimline II, which Dometic says helps reduce wind resistance and noise while creating a more streamlined fit on the vehicle.
The platform also has a flat design without a perimeter lip, making it easier to load gear onto the rack.
For travellers who use their vehicles for camping, overlanding or longer road trips, the rack is designed to accommodate a range of equipment without requiring a completely fixed setup.

More flexibility for carrying gear
The Slimline 3 has been designed around modularity, allowing individual slats to be added or removed without dismantling the entire rack.
Its adjustable slat spacing means the configuration can be changed depending on what needs to be carried, while integrated dual T-slots provide additional mounting options for accessories and equipment.
There are also concealed channels for wiring, allowing lighting and power systems to be integrated without leaving cables exposed across the rack.
Built for demanding conditions
The new rack uses 3CR12 stainless-steel sheet-metal components, along with black-coated stainless-steel fasteners. Dometic says the materials are intended to provide corrosion resistance and durability in harsh environments.
Tie-down points are built into all four corners, providing designated points for securing loads.
A proprietary mounting system is also designed to make removing and reinstalling the rack easier, while maintaining the vehicle’s roof seal.

Part of a larger adventure range
The Slimline 3 is the first product in Dometic’s new Front Runner Series, which brings together roof racks, storage, rack accessories and camping equipment under one platform.
The idea is to allow travellers to build a more integrated vehicle setup rather than relying on individual pieces of equipment from different systems. Dometic says further products will be added to the range.
A selection of Slimline 3-specific accessories is also available, including a shovel mount, quick-release awning mounts, recovery-board bracket, antenna mount, axe bracket and shower arm.
