New hybrid hotel concept to launch in Johannesburg

Posted on 2 October 2020

South Africa’s tourism and hospitality industry took a hard knock as a result of the lockdown restrictions. Not all hope is lost though and the industries will make a comeback.

A new hotel concept has quietly been brewing in Johannesburg’s Strathavon neighbourhood, a less than 2km from the center of Sandton’s CBD.

In this age of transition, the hotel aims to cater to the new design-conscious business traveler, leading with communal spaces and amenities such as lobby turned co-working hub turned art gallery and all-day community cafe for both guests and neighbours alike.

The Mighty Fine will be yet another great collaboration between international award-winning interior designer Tristan du Plessis [past projects include Design HotelTM Gorgeous George in Cape Town, Americano in Dubai and Design HotelTM Chapter Roma in Rome and creative duo Jana + Koos.

The 62-room hotel will have a mix of studio to three-bedroom suites where modern design, playful interiors, and digital functional co-exist.

While still staying true to the less is more micro-hotel approach, rooms will be styled as comfortable residences, each with a fully-equipped kitchen, locally sourced bath products, and smart TVs for those looking to stay short, stay long, or stay a while.

Forward-thinking lifestyle brand built by forward-thinking creative entrepreneurs, The Mighty Fine champions kindred hustlers with access to an all-day community cafe, podcast studio for hire, lobby turned co-working space, public pool, and treehouse bar to connect and create in.

Calm retreats from the demands of the hustle can be found throughout. Here generous hospitality meets considered, pared back design for the modern business traveler.

The Mighty Fine is the first hotel project to be both built and managed by Johannesburg-based property development firm, Narrative.

Born out of the management team’s own need to fill the void for business travels between Cape Town and Johannesburg, they were determined to create an upmarket hospitality experience catering to designers, freelancers and entrepreneurs without sacrificing design at an affordable rate.
