Nature is unpredictable and you never know when you’ll find yourself in a tough spot until you’re in it. Here’s a list of items you should take with you when you go camping.

Don’t underestimate Mother Nature

Even if you’ve checked the forecast ahead of time and there’s not a cloud in the sky, you should always be prepared for rain. You need:

  • A windbreaker
  • A plastic bag to keep spare socks in
  • Reliable shoes that can withstand harsh conditions

Lights out

Most campsites come with electrical supply but a power outage can occur at any moment. You need:

  • A torch or LED headlamp
  • Spare batteries
  • Matches or a lighter to start a fire

Follow the bread crumbs

Even the most seasoned campers get lost from time to time. If you leave the campsite to explore, make sure you are prepared. You need:

  • Water to stay hydrated
  • A map in case your phone dies
  • Dried fruit or protein bars to keep your energy levels up
  • Basic first aid: disinfectant and bandages and burnshield

Stop the leak

Holes in a tent are basically a bright neon welcome sign for unwanted bugs and water. Patching up a small hole is relatively simple. If you don’t have a tent repair kit, make sure you have:

  • A pocket knife or multipurpose tool
  • Duct tape
