The Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve in Mpumalanga will undergo a series of temporary closures due to film production at selected viewpoints between late 2025 and early 2026, according to the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA).

According to reports by Lowvelder, these closures affect only specific sections of the reserve, while the Panorama Route’s major highlights remain open.

Waterfall Section
- 17 November – 23 December 2025
- 31 December 2025 – 5 January 2026
Swadini Viewpoint
- 24 November – 24 December 2025
- Note: Boats tours may still operate with advance bookings.
- Open during the 31 December – 5 January waterfall closure, but with heightened security.
What remains open
Travellers can still enjoy the Panorama Route’s headline attractions, including:
- God’s Window
- Three Rondavels
- Bourke’s Luck Potholes
- The Pinnacle
Accommodation at Forever Resort Blyde Canyon (including chalets, campsites, and on-site facilities) will also remain fully accessible.
Boat tours during the closure
Boat trips from the Swadini area are still available by prior arrangement. Bookings must be made with the authorised operators:

- Check your dates: If you’re travelling during the closure periods, plan alternative viewpoints or adjust your route so you don’t miss key sights.
- Book ahead: Especially for boat tours, which will be limited to pre-arranged departures.
- Go early for the best views: God’s Window and the Three Rondavels offer spectacular morning light and are unaffected by the temporary closures.
