Gift of the Givers cares for animals left at Gqerberha predator park

Posted on 15 February 2022 By David Henning

Seaview Predator Park near Gqerberha has closed down, leaving 38 wild animals without a home. Most were relocated, but two Siberian tigers and three Nile crocodiles remained in rather precarious living conditions.

Fortunately, Gift of the Givers stepped in to ensure that these animals remain well-fed in suitable living conditions until a new home could be found.

It started when veterinarian Dr Annie Mears requested fresh water for the two Siberian tigers and three Nile crocodiles.

Gift of the Givers sent in 10 000 litres of clean water to replace the dirty and diseased water the crocodiles were lying in and provided them with invasive carp as a food source.

The Park made headlines in 2021 when David Solomon, an employee of Seaview Predator Park in Gqeberha was killed by a Siberian tiger.

It is hoped that the final remaining animals will be relocated within the next two months, but for now, they are in safe hands.
